SHU

CeLS proprietor led on the design of ‘The Professional Development Tool for Case Managers’ working closely with Sheffield Hallam University. He was responsible for concept designs, managing the development across a team of developers, and the implementation of the program using Serco’s Learning Management System.

The solution

The tool consists of four questionnaires that examine inter-related aspects of ‘practice at work’ including:

  • The ability to handle difficult situations
  • Skills, behaviour and fitness for purpose
  • Support for ongoing role development
  • Readiness for learning
  •

All attempts are recorded, and results for organisations and individuals are provided in text and graphical formats, allowing the tracking of changes and progress. Individual practitioners are able to develop a Personal Development Plan (PDP) which they can edit to reflect the results of subsequent self assessments.

    The tool provides Practitioners with:

  • Data to inform performance management; job design and workforce development
  • Data to support education commissioning for the workforce
  • Assurance that their workforce are fit for practice and purpose
  •

    …and allow them to:

  • Identify what the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) needs across the workforce are
  • Support for staff caring for patients with long term conditions to develop their role
  • Help their workforce discover what their current levels of competence are.
